چکیده

Airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) unmanned aerial vehicle-structure from motion (UAV-SfM) provide point clouds with unprecedented resolution accuracy that are well suited for the digital characterization of rock outcrops where direct contact measurements cannot be obtained due to terrain or safety constraints. Today, however, how better apply these techniques practice geostructural analysis is a topic research must further explored. This study presents processing procedure extracting three-dimensional (3D) structure parameters directly using open-source software distinct element code-assisted (3DEC) simulation slope failure based on carbonate cliffs in Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area. The involves (1) different remote sensing techniques; (2) Hough transform estimate normals hue, saturation, value (HSV) rendering unstructured clouds; (3) automatically clustering set-based (4) estimating geometric parameters; (5) performing subsequent stability parameters. results show integrating computing can quick way engineers assess blocky masses.

Rock Slope Stability Analysis Using Discrete Element Method

Rock slope stability depends very much on the strength features of the rock and the geometrical and strength characteristics of the discontinuities (e.g., roughness, wall strength and persistence). Since a rock mass is not a continuum, its behavior is dominated by such discontinuities as faults, joints and bedding planes. Also, Rock slope instability is a major hazard for human activities and o...

A new approach for application of rock mass classification on rock slope stability assessment

The objective of this paper is to present a new rock mass classification system which can be appropriate for rock slope stability assessment. In this paper an evaluation model based on combining the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Fuzzy Delphi method (FDM)was presented for assessing slope rockmass quality estimates. This research treats the slope rockmass classification as a group deci...

Rock slope discontinuity extraction and stability analysis from 3D point clouds: application to an urban rock slope

This paper presents an application of a recently developed methodology for the identification and analysis of flat surfaces affecting rock masses using 3D LiDAR point clouds(Riquelme et al., 2013 submited). The used methodology has been applied to calculate the algebraic equations of the different discontinuities of a rock slope through a methodology based on next three steps: (a) local curvatu...

Rock mass structural characterization via short-range digital photogrammetry

Because of the important role of rock mass structural properties on its mechanical behavior, determining the qualitative and quantitative properties of has been a subject of intense research. In this regard, numerous techniques such as scanline surveying, cell mapping, and geologic structure mapping have been proposed. However, applying such field surveying techniques for rock mass properties i...

Numerical probabilistic analysis for slope stability in fractured rock masses using DFN-DEM approach

Due to existence of uncertainties in input geometrical properties of fractures, there is not any unique solution for assessing the stability of slopes in jointed rock masses. Therefore, the necessity of applying probabilistic analysis in these cases is inevitable. In this study a probabilistic analysis procedure together with relevant algorithms are developed using Discrete Fracture Network-Dis...
